Life, for a substantial number of people around the world, has not improved much in many years. Currently, over 600 Million people around the world are living in extreme poverty earning less than $1.90 per day (world poverty clock). This represents approximately 10% of the world population and as high as 41% in some countries. Classified as the “Working Poor” this population does not earn enough to uplift themselves and their families out of poverty or enjoy a decent quality of life. Lack of skills, exploitation, and the unavailability of employment opportunities further entrap them in this ecosystem.
What is being done to help these underprivileged communities?
Countries and charitable organizations are working together to eradicate poverty, with admirable results. Given the magnitude of the challenge, more long-term solutions are still required. Solutions best summarized by the ancient saying - “Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime.”. Empowering solutions, which help individuals to uplift themselves and have a ripple effect on their families and communities. A disruptive solution.
As a social impact enterprise, EduPloyment is a technology platform driven by the purpose of helping to eradicate poverty by educating and employing the underprivileged.
We know that when an underprivileged person is educated, empowered, and employed they will be uplifted from their current economic state. Their family members and dependents, on average between 5-7 people, are also uplifted and have a better chance of breaking the poverty cycle. EduPloyment’s purpose is to deliver this empowerment to every employment candidate and perpetuate this ripple effect to their communities.
Due to economic conditions and limited job opportunities, seeking employment abroad represents the most viable option to uplift these individuals and their dependents. Unfortunately through traditional mechanisms, access to these opportunities is very challenging for this population. Lack of English language skills, difficulties in finding jobs, and significant financial costs are major obstacles.
Leveraging the latest adaptive education technology EduPloyment’s training programs help these individuals gain critical English language and communications skills, and then connects them directly with employers providing decent work, safe working environments, and fair pay.
